Waving Goodbye to an Old Friend, Hello to a New One: The Wave Sayonara

2013 Mizuno Wave Sayonara

Some changes are a'coming to the Mizuno product line in the next few months, and the biggest (and maybe most exciting) is the introduction of the ALL NEW Wave Sayonara!

The drawback of this is that it replaces the now beloved Wave Precision, but it does so in a way that will make many Precision lovers continue to love their light weight Mizuno training shoes!

So what is new? The Sayonara has a brand new midsole compound that offers improved performance in a lighter weight package!  The material, called U4IC, is pretty awesome. The shoe is light but offers a tremendous sense of stability in a shoe designed as a Neutral Training shoe.

We also see a full ground contact outsole. This improves the ride of shoe through the midfoot to forefoot transition, and also increases the sense of stability that is inherent in the shoe. The upper has a nice blend of welded overlays throughout most of the shoe, but stitched ones to maintain that consistent Mizuno Arch feeling.

The fit is excellent. The heel continues to snug the foot well, keeping it from moving, while the toe box opens up nicely. The heel/midfoot fit is snug enough for the shoe to work for those who have narrow feet or like the feeling of a racing shoe, but the toe box easily works for those who have a wider foot as well.

The Wave Sayonara calls out to us in it's name, as one of the earliest Wave Technology shoes that we fell in love with at Movin Shoes was the Wave Goodbye! Pictured here, we have an original Wave Goodbye adjacent to the new Wave Sayonara.

We are test running a few pairs, and the shoe becomes available in July 2013. We are excited and look forward to seeing a ton of San Diego runners enjoy this new and awesome shoe.
