Waving Goodbye to an Old Friend, Hello to a New One: The Wave Sayonara

2013 Mizuno Wave Sayonara

Some changes are a'coming to the Mizuno product line in the next few months, and the biggest (and maybe most exciting) is the introduction of the ALL NEW Wave Sayonara!

The drawback of this is that it replaces the now beloved Wave Precision, but it does so in a way that will make many Precision lovers continue to love their light weight Mizuno training shoes!

So what is new? The Sayonara has a brand new midsole compound that offers improved performance in a lighter weight package!  The material, called U4IC, is pretty awesome. The shoe is light but offers a tremendous sense of stability in a shoe designed as a Neutral Training shoe.

We also see a full ground contact outsole. This improves the ride of shoe through the midfoot to forefoot transition, and also increases the sense of stability that is inherent in the shoe. The upper has a nice blend of welded overlays throughout most of the shoe, but stitched ones to maintain that consistent Mizuno Arch feeling.

The fit is excellent. The heel continues to snug the foot well, keeping it from moving, while the toe box opens up nicely. The heel/midfoot fit is snug enough for the shoe to work for those who have narrow feet or like the feeling of a racing shoe, but the toe box easily works for those who have a wider foot as well.

The Wave Sayonara calls out to us in it's name, as one of the earliest Wave Technology shoes that we fell in love with at Movin Shoes was the Wave Goodbye! Pictured here, we have an original Wave Goodbye adjacent to the new Wave Sayonara.

We are test running a few pairs, and the shoe becomes available in July 2013. We are excited and look forward to seeing a ton of San Diego runners enjoy this new and awesome shoe.

More than Running: Yoga and Circuit Training for Runners at Movin Shoes

A Running Store is not just a running store. A running store is a place that helps runners and walkers, builds community, opens up new doors and creates new opportunities for people.

At Movin Shoes we are pleased to be that.

More than shoes, we offer a place to meet up with new runners and walkers and help people find new ways to enjoy the sport and grow as a member of it.

We offer more than just the usual group runs (though we love those too), but also some classes that are both unique and interesting.

We encourage everyone to attend our "Circuit Training For Runners" classes that happen every Thursday at the Movin Shoes store in Pacific Beach. The class is FREE and focused on specific strength, mobility, and rhythms of running. We meet at 6pm every Thursday at the store and take a short trek up to beautiful Kate Sessions Park for the main part of the workout. Expect about 2 miles of running total, and some awesome strength development as well.

We also are offering a Yoga For Runners class at Movin Shoes in Encinitas! The classes are Thursday Evenings at 7pm.

Yoga is another tool in the tool shed for runners and walkers looking to find ways to stay healthy and happy. The class, led by Suzanne Ellard, is designed with runners in mind and targets specific areas that runner's tend to need focusing on.

The class is donation based, so come on in and enjoy and discover!

Introducing the All New Saucony Kinvara 4.

Movin Shoes just received our first shipment of the all new Saucony Kinvara 4, and we are excited.

The shoe continues to offer many of the fundamentally similar features that has made it a hit in the running community. The "Feathery Weight" of this light weight shoe is almost astonishing when you realize the level of cushioning that it offers. In addition, it continues with the notion of "minimal" drop, with the forefoot sitting just 4mm lower than the heel.

The shoe continues to offer a great light weight shoe for truly neutral runners (over-pronators beware, this shoe is soft and has little support).

The most important updates to the shoe are in the overlays on the upper. Gone are the series of progressive overlays that crossed across the the top of the foot, in favor of minimally noticeable and less frequent welded overlays that tend to not fold or press into the foot as much.

The tried and true Kinvara users will continue to love the function of the shoe for sure, and they are likely going to be pleased with both the cosmetics (these shoes look FINE), and the new upper patterns.

Kinvara 4: Perfect for that "nothing" feel with a level of decent cushioning.
